Support Groups

Eating Disorder Support Group

Focus offers a free support group for people with Eating Disorders who are 18 years and above.

The ED Support Group has been running successfully at Focus for the past 16 years. We offer a safe and confidential space to open up about your thoughts, feelings and experiences related to Eating Disorders.

We recognise how hard it is embarking on the  journey of recovery alone, and provide emotional and practical support in a safe and confidential environment.  The group takes a pro recovery approach and is an opportunity to share ideas and talk about feelings without going into details of ED behaviour that might be triggering to others. Our aim is to create a community of people who can help each other by sharing their similar experiences.

The group is completely free, although you are welcome to make a donation. Currently, the group runs fortnightly on Thursday evenings 7-8pm in the Oasis Hub Church in Bath.

To self-refer to the group, find out more and receive the group’s mission statement/agreement, email EDSG@focusbath.com.

Female Survivors of Sexual Violence

Focus offers a free support group for female survivors of sexual violence who are 18 years and above.

Its purpose is to provide a trauma-informed safe space for survivors to draw strength from each other and have their experiences of sexual violence acknowledged, feel reduced shame and be empowered to start or continue recovery from their experience.

The group will run fortnightly in a space hosted in a discreet venue by qualified female counsellors. The support group is not therapy but is therapeutically minded - we will always believe you.

The support group can be really empowering and will focus on self-care/self-soothing and grounding strategies, increasing self-esteem and confidence to lead on own recovery/healing.

The first step to book onto the support group is to have an informal chat with one of the facilitators who will guide you through how it works. Please call us, or email office@focusbath.com.
